Making Cafetiere Coffee

The cafetiere coffee maker is a very simple method of brewing coffee.

We always recommend our Brazilian Santos coffee for Making Cafetiere Coffee as it gives a full smooth flavour and this is our preferred method for home coffee.

More Than Coffees coarsely ground beans are mixed with hot water just off the boil at around 96 °C.  This will give optimal extraction for the coffee oils in the beans to develop a full flavour profile in just four minutes and its worth setting the timer on this for accuracy.  Pressing the plunger before this will mean less flavour and the plunger is harder to press!

An easy press on the plunger locks the grinds at the bottom of the cafetiere and stops the brewing process.

Alternative names for the  cafetiere is a French Press and it can also be used as a Tea Press although the water will need to be boiling for the tea.

I hope that this short write up helps you with making Cafetiere Coffee
